Recent Computer News: Vox!

On October 27, Six Apart KK, which is an online company for blog, produced a new feature of blog service called "Vex". This service currently is for three countries: America, France, and Japan.
It allows people to create their blog for free. In addition, what the most significant point of this is that we can control the viewer to see inside of our blog in detail. So it is very useful in this kind of situation.

You put two pictures in one post. One is the picture of your brother and another is that of beautiful scenery. You want to show both pictures, but you want to show your brother's picture for only your friends and family members.

You can do it! Of course, you can show the scenery picture for everyone who saw your blog, although these are in the same page.
Also, it has new service on blog called "Question of the Day", which requires the blogger to answer an interesting question everyday.
In addition, we can easily put photo, music or movable pictures from Flicker, Photobucket, iStockPhoto, YouTube, iFilm and so force because Vex has connection with these services. Therefore, it allowed us to make a blog more fascinating much easier than ever.

If you have interested in making a new blog, please try it!

What Is "Net Neutrality"?

The term "Net neutrality" means a kind of rule on the Internet so that Internet users are always in control of what content they view and what applications they use on the Internet. Actually, many companies such as Google and Yahoo has launched, grown and innovated with this neutrality. One example is this: when someone pay to connect to the net, the person can get the same amount of information as others even if there were people who payed more or less money for the same purpose. In this kind of case, money to pay depend on the quality of provider service when they buy the computer, so it does not decide the amount of information he or she will get. It also prevents companies related to the Internet from discriminating against other competing companies or having power to control the market. However, this neutrality does not mean the Internet for free, nor someone should pay more money for higher quality of service. This is just for the equality for every people to get information.

I recommend you to try these three websites!

There are many many many websites on the Internet. Some are big, some are rather private, some are popular, or some are even difficult to find. Among thousands of websites, I strongly recommend these tree websites!!
The first one I like very much is "LICA"'s official website. JICA means Japan International Cooperation Agency. It promotes a lot of kinds of non-financial activities for developing countries and reports them in this site. In addition to be able to see personal contribution of volunteer people, we can look at the world's situation with online video system. So if we want to see the present situation of Thailand, we can go to this site and see it. What a wonderful thing!!
The second one I use almost every day is "Mixi"</EM> website. Thanks for this site, we can make our own blog very easily. Because only people who received an invitation from a friend, it is kind of private, and we can make a community with only friends in this site. If you do not know about it, you should ask your friend for sending you the invitation!!
The third one I really want you to try is "Free Touch Typing Program". As many NIC students know, it is a practical website of typing. On the screen, a sample keyboard and two hands indicate which fingers to which button. By doing the exercise constantly, I am sure you can fasten the speed to type!
These are just a little examples of my favorites. We can know the newest world, communicate with friends easily, and type letters faster and faster! If you are interested, please try them!

Computer Gifts I Would Buy for Friends & Family

Everyone wants a present from someone. If the present was from someone who the person liked very much or one the person wanted for a long time, the present would be more precious than any others. As today's technology has growing better and better, a present related to computer is not unusual. I have some software if I were to choose it for someone who bought a new computer.
The first idea is Power Point software. That is because this is so convenient for any representative occasions such as office, school or even just for having fun with his or her family. One of my friends said before, "I have to prepare my presentation at school, not home because my computer does not have Power Point...:-( ". Actually, I also had trouble when I started to prepare for a presentation. Therefore, I would strongly recommend my friend to have Power Point software in the computer at home!!
The second idea is "Uchimomo" software. I guess many people know this software, but this is remarkably enjoyable to fasten the speed of keyboard typing. It has several modes; the practice mode and the test mode. In both modes, we have to type letters on the screen as fast as we can. How fast did we typed these letters will decide how well "Momocyan" makes a lunch box or does athletic activities. As a result, we can easily improve the typing skill with cute characters!

These softwares will surely help our computer life. However, advanced research for friends is so important because if the friend had it, it would be a waste of money. After all, all presents should be chosen carefully. This is because friends are precious and our consideration will change his or her feeling!!

Social Engineering

The term "Social Engineering" means that a person secretly get the private information to come in the secured zone on the computer using some illegal techniques. For example, workers in a company need to be careful the phone call asking for an ID number or password because the illegal people try to get it secretly by pretending someone in the company. Also, these people try to find these private information from the trash box. In the house field, they might trick children or elderly people on the phone. These are all called "Social engineering" and they are completely to be guilty.
To deal with these problems, we can try several ways; making a certification that is difficult to be forged, using a shredder for used information paper, avoiding a phone call from a telephone booth, a call from an unnoticed number, or any other suspicious numbers.
